How to Play Mahjong Solitaire
Mahjong Solitaire is a single-player matching puzzle. The goal is to remove every tile by selecting matching pairs that are free to move.
The free-tile rule
A tile is free when no tile covers it and at least one long side—left or right—is open. A visible tile can still be blocked, so check both its layer and its neighboring tiles before planning a pair.
Matching and winning
Most pairs need identical symbols. Any flower may match another flower, and any season may match another season. Remove pairs until the board is empty. If no pair is available, use a hint to review the position or shuffle the remaining tiles.
A reliable first strategy
Prioritize moves that uncover covered tiles or open both sides of a long row. When several identical tiles are free, compare the tiles beneath them before choosing a pair. This keeps more future moves available.
